Undeniably, one of 2010's major trends in indie music was chillwave, a genre defined by its lo-fi, psychedelic, and (often) electronic sound. And it just so happens that one of the scene's major stars, Toro Y Moi's Chaz Bundick, hails from Columbia. Bundick played the last show of his spring tour at Eye Level Art, calling it a homecoming of sorts. Fans got lucky again a few months ago, when former Lowcountry native Mark Gravel hosted Peaches, a pop-up restaurant, at the gallery, bringing Georgia-based band Washed Out with him. Charleston hipsters came out of the woodwork for both shows.
