North Charleston Harvest Festival and Block Party

Staff Pick

In 2013, the City of North Charleston launched the inaugural Harvest Festival and Block Party, and while the first year was something of a low-key affair, the 2014 fest was a certifiable family-friendly party, drawing in a costumed crowd that rivaled the city’s St. Paddy’s Day festival from just a few year ago. As usual with a Park Circle street fest, there was plenty of drinking — but the event was far from rowdy. Heck, it was quite wholesome. The highlight: A costume contest emceed by the V-Tones’ Noodle McDoodle featuring Mary Poppins and Bert the Chimney Sweep, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and a group dressed as the Ghostbusters, with a big old dog as a paranormal exterminator and a tiny pup as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
