Charleston boasts its share of amazing bakeries. We've even got a macaroon shop. But doughnuts? We were severely lacking in that department until Glazed opened its doors last fall. And thank God they did. Owners Mark Remi and Allison Smith, a 2008 graduate of the Culinary Institute of Charleston, opened the store on a whim and found it to be more successful than they'd ever imagined. They sold out within a few hours their first day in business, and that trend has continued ever since. They make everything from scratch daily with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We're still partial to the maple bacon flavor, but you should also try the chocolate orange ginger, berry cobbler, and strawberry basil lime. Really, you can't go wrong with anything these kids cook up. Just make sure you get there before they run out.
