GQ named Billy Reid the best new menswear designer in 2010, marking a bit of a triumph for the South's fashion scene. The Alabama-based designer, who has an outpost on King Street, designs upscale clothing with a timeless feel for both men and women. The shop itself, all dark wood, antiques, and vintage photographs, puts shoppers in a live-oaks-and-Spanish-moss state-of-mind. You'll find lots of gingham, vintage-style shoes, bowties, and pretty shirt dresses mixed in with stylish antiques that make you feel like you're rummaging through your very stylish Southern granny's house.
