Best Potential New Charleston Flag

Dustin Waters’ Brunch Flag

Staff Pick

In case you missed it, City Paper’s very own Dustin Waters — in response to Columbia, S.C.’s search for a new city flag — decided to design a few options to fly from the rooftops of our own beautiful city. The designs were varied, from an “Ohio” flag (because lots of people in Charleston move here from Ohio) to a “Conde Nasty” flag (for obvious reasons). But there was one standout winner (the city has yet to move forward with the voting process for these bad boys, but stay tuned, ’cause you’ll want to make the right choice) in our minds: the brunch flag. Waters suggests that “we salute our city’s favorite meal with all the subtlety it deserves.” Using the red and gold of the Soviet flag, we feel compelled to bring down the hammer (and sickle) and say no to boring flags, forevermore. —Mary Scott Hardaway
