Nothing says testosterone like the Yorktown, a towering hunk of steel forged for combat. All you need is a bumper sticker of Calvin pissing on an A-rab and the image is complete. Yet, inexplicably, the tourist attraction continues to suffer. Among a host of last-ditch pitches was a proposal by Rodney Cook of Atlanta-based National Monuments Foundation to create a male companion to the Statue of Liberty, honoring Charleston’s long heritage. These guys missed the Battery tour or they would have realized that we already have a shrine to the Confederacy.
