Look, we love the Shem Creek scene. Red’s, Vickery’s, Tavern & Table, etc., etc., but parking there sure is a bitch. In fact, parking is so bad, the hordes of hungry and thirsty restaurant-goers spill over into the parking lot of the lovely Shem Creek Park. Which is why the proposed four-story parking garage at the corner of Coleman Boulevard and Mill Street is a good idea. Critics, however, argue that the parking garage will destroy the scenic beauty of Shem Creek, and in some ways they have a point. In the end this is the price you not only pay for progress, but the price you pay for creating an entertainment district around such a beautiful creek. You built it, they came, and you can’t turn around and tell them to stay away now.
