We were bereft when La Fourchette closed back in 2013, for it meant the loss of what were, hands down, Charleston’s best french fries. Then this winter came news that Kyle Yarbrough, a veteran of La Fourchette’s kitchen, would be taking the helm at Cumberland Street Smokehouse, and he was bringing the meticulous hand-cut, air-cured, and double-fried-in-duck-fat method with him. We’re quacking for joy.
