Best Reason to Eat More Oysters

Oyster Season Curtailed

Staff Pick

Two days after this year’s start of oyster season, oystering was shutdown. Due to the 1,000-year storm that pummeled our coast, bringing pollution into the shallow oyster beds, DHEC closed the fishing season. But the good news — on Fri. Oct. 23, Lowcountry oyster beds were reopened. Reminder: it’s still an R month. We recommend you support our local oystermen and women by shoveling as many buckets of bivalves as you can into your mouth. —Kinsey Gidick
