For the love of liberty, people, the aftermath of Fourth of July at Folly was no way to show our country some love. Our forefathers would be horrified. I can just picture Ben Franklin, all hungover and sunburnt, tsk-tsking the mess that lay before him from sea to shining sea. Ninety-nine percent of the litter was alcohol containers, which led Mayor Carl Beckmann Jr. to question whether the shore should continue to allow booze. See Charleston, this is why we can’t have nice things. If you want to keep your seaside sippy cups, you better pick up your trash. Next year celebrate Independence Day by indulging in the freedom to not be a slob.
