It’s been a rough year for the Charleston County School Board of Trustees, but it’s nice to see that the people have found someone they can still support. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Kate Darby has worked as a director with the South Carolina Aquarium and as general manager of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. Elected to the school board in 2014, Darby earned her stripes as chair of the Wando High School Improvement Council. The East Cooper representative helped lead the push for Wando’s Center for Advanced Studies. A proponent of long-term planning and consistency on the board, this business-minded fiscal conservative must be doing something right for the students of Charleston County schools.
