By themselves, the RiverDogs and Bill Murray are each Charleston treasures. Combined, well, they're just a recipe for the weird kind of normal that the Holy City has grown to embrace. Everybody's got a story about where they last saw Bill Murray around town. That's why when the R-Dogs' "director of fun" walked out onto the field during a rain delay last summer, everyone knew what was coming. As Director Murray rounded third and headed down the home stretch, one generation of booze-hounds in the upper deck saw Dr. Peter Venkman and another saw the voice of Garfield tumble toward the general direction of home plate hidden under the rain-soaked tarp. "The Slide" lives on on YouTube, and with more than 250,000 views to date, many more have shared in the spectacle.
