Real soul food requires a few things. First, it has to be made with love. Second, it has to come from the heart. And third, it has to include something fried. Just kidding. Soul food is the honest-to-goodness food that Martha Lou Gadsden serves (fried chicken, lima beans, fried white fish) with a big glass of sugary sweet tea. It's filling and inexpensive, and it's something your grandma probably cooked for you when you were a kid, if you were one of the lucky ones.
