McClellanville's Thornhill Farms has made quite a splash with its fresh organic vegetables, which it sells at its store on the farm as well as through a CSA that delivers fresh produce to its members throughout the Charleston area. Last year, a second Our Local Foods shop opened up — it's a lot closer to Charleston, but still in a tucked-away spot way out on Clements Ferry Road. For Lower Awendaw residents, it's a boon: fresh seasonal vegetables like organic kale and rainbow carrots, local specialties like Geechee Boy grits, and locally raised meat like McCutcheon grass-fed beef and free-range chicken from Thornhill Farms. There's also a selection of sandwiches for eating right there or pre-made dinner items to take home. If you aren't up for the drive, the Kitchen Table Cuisine program lets you order online and have fresh local food delivered straight to your door.
