Bacco’s Michael Scognamilglio is one of the Lowcountry’s most unheralded chefs. Day in and day out, he serves up great, moderately priced Italian fare at his Mt. P. restaurant. And at no other time in the year does Scognamilglio display his talents more than during Bacco’s annual week-long seafood lovefest, Festa di Mare. Last April, he served up poached seafood salad, bruschetta with limoncello shrimp, mussels with saffron and sweet vermouth broth, gnocchi with crab sauce, and tonnarelli with anchovy. The latter two were particularly slamming. This year’s Festa di Mare can’t get here soon enough.
