If you've seen one Applebee's, you've seen them all. There's a large wrap-around bar in the middle, high-top tables surrounding the bar, and an outer ring divided by a short wall that acts as the main dining area. Riblet and chicken finger baskets, large plates of nachos, and sizzling skillets dominate the menu. In 2011, the Applebee's on James Island got transformed into Lucky's Southern Grill, which offers comforting Southern plates like fried catfish with black-eyed peas and hominy grits, house-smoked pulled pork, and crispy Southern fried chicken that is to die for. The interior still has a slight Applebee's feel, but the food and service are good enough to show the upgrade was much needed.
