Best Way to Cool the Kids Off on a Hot Summer Day

The Splash Fountain at Riverfront Park

Staff Pick

North Charleston’s Riverfront Park is already an underappreciated Lowcountry gem — it’s a gorgeous park with a gorgeous view, which just so happens to be of a bridge and a paper mill ... shocking — but it’s the splash fountain, the kind that shoots up from the concrete, that’s an ideal source of amusement for bored kids on a piping hot summer day. The best part: You don’t have to pay a dime to let your kids have a grand ole time dancing in the water. Sadly, the splash fountain is currently broken, but it seems City Council has plans to fix it up before summer starts. —Chris Haire
