With the increasing number of apps, gadgets, and addictive reality shows, we’ve been spending less time looking up at the night sky. The College of Charleston has a fix for that. Every third Friday of the month, CofC offers a gratis chance to admire the stars at its observatory on the corner of Coming and George Streets. The night begins on the first floor of the Science Center before visitors are led up to two observation decks. These offer a fine view of the city skyline as well as access to a main 16-inch telescope and 8-inch telescopes, all pointed toward objects of interest. Open to all ages, this evening is a great way to get spaced out for free.
