The risque, short-lived Pulp bookstore, gallery, and arts venue gave a comparably dull and dry King Street sweet lubrication with its quirky book collection, unique (and sometimes freakish) art shows, vintage movie nights, and extraordinary events like improv, fashion, and burlesque shows. In short, a night spent at Pulp felt like an out-of-Charleston experience, and it sure was nice while it lasted. —Kelly Rae Smith
