You might want to slap ya mama after taking a sip of one of Palmetto Brewery’s latest brews. At first sip, Ginger Slap is identical in its malt profile to Palmetto’s traditional (and well-liked) Amber Ale. Then things start to get a little crazy. The beer is finished with fresh-ground Brazilian Ginger and cardamom seeds, giving it a lightly spicy and dry finish. We first tried Ginger Slap when it debuted last December, and we couldn’t wait to get our grubby little hands on a six pack. The light spiciness felt right on our tongues around Christmastime, and, much to our surprise, that welcoming feeling has lasted into the spring. This beer tastes like the holidays, but it also is really well-suited for warm weather. Who’d a thunk it?
