BevCon Excursion: ACE Basin Trip

When: Sun., Aug. 21, 10 a.m. 2016

After meeting at Sterling Hall at Hyatt House (560 King Street), attendees will pile onto a bus and roll down to the ACE Basin to visit a 300-year-old farm growing Blue Ribbon sugar cane, Charleston Gold rice and Jimmy Red corn. Jimmy Hagood, Lavington Farms’ steward and a local pitmaster, will lead the tour through the fields and talk about the farm’s rich history and his current farm-to-bottle collaborations with High Wire Distilling Co. He’ll also demonstrate sugar cane juicing, the first step in the process of making cane syrup. Guests will enjoy a delicious barbecue picnic beside the marsh, accompanied by spirits tastings and cocktails by High Wire.
