There really isn't a bigger Statehouse fish than S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell. His troubles began when former Post and Courier reporter Renee Dudley revealed he'd reimbursed himself money from his campaign account — and couldn't provide receipts for all of his reimbursements. Just a few weeks ago, Attorney General Alan Wilson turned the Harrell investigation over to a grand jury — a pretty big deal. Today, the state's most powerful politician is fighting for his political life, and it's just started to get nasty. As we go to press, Harrell's lawyers were seeking to get Wilson kicked off the case.
