Bike-In Movie

When: Mon., July 22, 7 p.m. 2013

In the '50s, drive-in movies were all the rage. But now that we’re in the new millenium, we’re going back to basics and the greener side of things — like bikes. Local Charleston artist, musician, and bike enthusiast Tim Edgar is working with the Tin Roof to bring something fun and unique to Charleston for bikers and nonbikers alike by inviting cyclists to hop on their bikes (or not) and check out a couple of free movies. The bike-friendly movies PeeWee’s Big Adventure and E.T. the Extraterrestrial will be shown inside the Tin Roof so moviegoers can relax and cool down from their ride or just the typical Charleston summer heat. While biking to the event is not required, there are some perks to riding. Free popcorn will be given out and happy hour specials will apply to those who ride to the occasion. The Tin Roof knows that biking is more fun with friends so they are encouraging cyclists to meet up at Spacecraft Studios at 6:30 p.m. in Avondale to ride as a group. If you do choose to be a lone wolf and ride alone, the venue is seconds from Highway 61, an outlet for the West Ashley Bike Trail. As always, the Tin Roof and Edgar encourage cyclists to ride safely and responsibly with helmets and proper lights and obey all traffic laws
