Black Eye Affair: S.C. Roller Derby State Championships

When: Sun., Nov. 13, 12-8 p.m. 2011

Brawny babes will battle it out for a shot at glory during the Black Eye Affair, a day-long roller derby event. For the final match of the season, the Lowcountry Highrollers invite everyone to cheer them on as they embark on a fight for the coveted state championship roller derby title. Playing host to the tournament for the first time, the Highrollers will clash with the league’s best, including the Columbia Quad Squad, Greenville Derby Dames, Palmetto State Roller Girls, Richland County Regulators, and U.R.G.E. Doors are set to open at noon, with eight “mini-bouts” scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Teams will lay it all on the line until only one remains. Once the derby champion is crowned, an after-party at the Music Farm will keep the good times rolling. Bring along a nonperishable food item for donation and receive $1 off the price of admission. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank.
