Black Ink: The Charleston African-American Book Festival

When: Sat., Sept. 23, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. 2017

Join other reading enthusiasts for a chance to meet nearly 75 local African-American authors. Festival highlights include a workshop on writing and self-publishing, a spoken word poetry slam, and an author panel. The event will also feature a keynote address from poet, educator and New York Times bestselling author, Kwame Alexander. Other featured authors include: Herb Frazier, author of Behind God’s Back and We are Charleston; Joyce Coakley, author of Sweetgrass Baskets and the Gullah Tradition; Damon Fordham, author of True Stories of Black South Carolina; and Sherman Pyatt, author of Burke High School (1894-2006), Charleston, SC.
