Based in Syracuse, N.Y., hard-rock trio Born Again Rebels avoid the glam and glitter of classic, L.A.-style pop metal and stick with the gritty, riffy, Pantera-esque grind and howl. The band formed in 2003, determined to blend bits of ’70s stoner rock, ’80s underground metal, and grunge into a crafty, dynamic style. Singer/guitarist Gary Haydu’s deep-toned singing and screaming are certainly influenced by the likes of Metallica’s James Hetfield and Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland. The frontman leads bandmates Eric Maliszewski (bass) and Alan Haydu (drums) to the Mill this week for a show with support from Truman Rebels and Havoc Bin.
