Burlesque Fest

When: Sat., May 29, 7 p.m.-12 a.m. 2010

Burlesque is a form of entertainment that has evolved into a combination of dance, striptease, music, and modeling. On Saturday night, South of Broadway Theatre will host the very first Charleston Burlesque Fest. Bizarro Burlesque, our city’s own burlesque troupe, presents the event, with Nikki Testeroni, the leather-clad frontman of glam-rock band Iron Cherry, serving as the emcee. There will also be an intermission performance by Megan Jean & the KFB. If you’re feeling sexy and eager to get in on the action, you can do a pin up photoshoot with St. Jane Photography. The night ends with an after-party hosted by the Mill, with Jason & the Juggernauts playing their rockabilly tunes. Feel free to Google some pictures of the Bizarro ladies to get a little taste of what’s to come (just don’t do it when the kids are around or when your boss is looking over your shoulder). —Cameron Jones

Price: $10/advance, $12/door
