Buy Local Block Party and Maker Tours

When: Sat., Nov. 22, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. 2014

The idea of buying local to support our economy and community is nothing new, but that doesn’t mean we should pay it any less attention. And on Saturday, Lowcountry Local First makes it easy for us to focus on buying products that were created right here in the Holy City. The Block Party features indie retailers and artisans all in one spot, including Cavortress, Ink Meets Paper, Olinda Olives and Olive Oil, Joseph Thompson Woodworks, Rewined, The Cake Farmer, and more. Dulce, King of Pops, Roadside Seafood, Roti Rolls, and Zombie Bob’s Pizza will also be on site to provide the eats, along with beer from COAST, Frothy Beard, Fat Pig, Holy City Brewing, Tradesman, Westbrook, and Wood Skiff. Plus, they’ll have a tiny movie theater set up to show local films. But if you want to take your love of all things local even further, take one of the Makers Tours to see what happens behind the scenes. The 10 a.m. tour visits businesses headquartered in the upper peninsula, like Landrum Tables, Rewined Candles, Perrin Woodworking, Produce Candles, and Palmetto Brewing Co. The 2 p.m. tour heads to North Charleston and includes Avrett, Bill’s Custom Woodworking, Folbot, Heavy Aesthetics, and COAST Brewing Company. Each tour leaves from 1600 Meeting and takes event-goers to the destinations on a bus. The stops at the breweries include a beer
