Camela Guevara & Patrick Nevins Exhibition

When: Thu., Dec. 7, 5-7 p.m. 2017

Charleston locals Camela Guevara and Patrick Nevins display their work at the North Charleston City Gallery (inside the Charleston Area Convention Center) from now through January. Guevara, the 2017-2018 North Charleston artist-in-residence, will show off her gouache paintings and sculptural textile work of handmade cording and woven raffia. The collection is titled PLUME for it’s feathery strokes and reference to oil plumes. Peter Nevins is a small-town Massachusetts transplant now living on Folly Beach. Nevins fell in love with Charleston’s natural beauty which became the subject of his many landscapes and seascapes. His Impermanent. Objects. exhibit will include compelling still lifes that speak to the realism he is always striving for. Maggie Jordan, visual arts coordinator at the City Gallery, says that while Nevin’s style requires “an incredible amount of discipline” and Guevara’s is “organic and spontaneous”, that both are local powerhouses making for a “fun juxtaposition...that’s approachable and special!”
