Catalogue of Undeliverables

When: Thu., Dec. 8, 6-9 p.m. 2011

In most cases, long distance relationships aren’t fun. It takes an ample amount of effort to keep up with a friend, boyfriend, or sibling that lives in a faraway place — not for a lack of ways to do so, of course (although we can all get a little awkward when Skyping). So when longtime friends and local artists Trever Webster and Liz Vaughn discovered they would both be spending extended amounts of time away from Charleston (Missouri and Kentucky, respectively) they decided to not only keep in touch, but to use the opportunity to send handmade postcards and other art pieces through the mail. These visual letters are the basis of their new collaborative show, Catalogue of Undeliverables, which not only focuses on communication, but the misgivings, impressions, and sheer difficulty that go hand in hand with it. In addition to their actual correspondence, experimental videos, paintings, and individual works by the artists will be on display.
