Charleston Dog Show

When: Sat., May 1 2010

Charleston’s official dog show is back for its seventh year of tail-wagging fun. Spectators can enjoy the 14 different classes of competition, including all your favorite breeds from sporting dogs to the toys. If you’re proud of your pooch and want to put Fido in the competition, entries will be taken until 10 minutes before each class and costs only $10. Does Spot have a low self-esteem because he’s not purebred? There’s a Heinz 57 group for any four-legged friend that doesn’t fit into other classes. And the costume class is guaranteed to be adorable. There will also be a ceremonial opening with a “Blessing of the Dogs,” and there will be vendors, microchipping, a silent auction, and other attractions. Proceeds benefit Lowcountry Lab Rescue, Low Country Golden Retriever Rescue Resource, Greyhound Pets of America-Charleston, and Middleton Place Hounds. —Caitlyn Chimento

Price: $10/per dog per class
