Charleston Race Week

When: April 14-17 2011

Charleston Race Week is upon us, but don’t worry if you’re not part of a boat crew, since there will be plenty to do on the shoreline. The week kicks off at noon on Thursday with registration, a skipper’s meeting, and a chalk talk (a racing seminar). The festivities start at 6 p.m. with the opening beach party featuring music by Two 3 Ways. Friday and Saturday begin at 6:30 a.m. with bagels and coffee provided by Gill and Rising High Cafe for you early birds. The races start at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Be sure to bring your A-game for the bocce ball and cornhole tournaments starting at 4 p.m. each day but save some energy to finish the nights off right with two beach parties. The weekend will have Gosling’s rum and beer bars, food, and music by NTRANZE on Friday and Calvin Taylor on Saturday. Race Week will wrap up on Sunday with the same race schedule but an earlier beach party with a beer and chili cookout at 2 p.m. and awards ceremony at 4 p.m. There’s plenty to do, so be sure to buy your shoreside event pass now. Also check out charlestonraceweek.com periodically because the schedule is subject to change and you don’t want to get left out.
