Chris Barron, JamiSun

When: Wed., Aug. 18 2010

Singer/songwriter Chris Barron is certainly best known as the goateed frontman of the Spin Doctors, a groove-rock band notable for such ’90s alt-pop classics as “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong.” In 2007, Barron released his first mainstream solo effort, Pancho and the Kid, which demonstrated some strong country and Americana influences. In recent years, he’s performed as a solo singer/guitarist, handling a mix of Spin Doctors tunes and new originals, some that stick with a straightforward formula. “I Love You, I Love You, Goodbye” is a power-pop standout. He and his band played the Pour House in ’08. He headlines a free solo show this week. Local strummer JamiSun opens at 9 p.m. —T. Ballard Lesemann
