Get ready to break out your red and green and find that old Santa hat. On July 24, H1GHER LEARNING hosts Christmas in July, a benefit event for The Lowcountry Food Bank. The party takes place at the Navy Yard at Noisette in North Charleston. Clothing manufacturer Vapor Apparel is the presenting sponsor for the event, which includes several DJs and musical acts, a showcase of local clothing and accessory brands, and plenty of food and drink.

The benefit aims to help support The Lowcountry Food Bank in their fight to feed the hungry of ten different counties. The Lowcountry Food Bank will be on site to collect donations of non-perishable food items and cash. Guests will receive discounted admission with a donation.

The event was inspired by Presents from Punks, another local benefit that collects donations for Toys for Tots. After the toys are purchased, the organization donates the rest of the money to The Lowcountry Food Bank.

KJ Kearney of H1GHER LEARNING had the idea to further their efforts by hosting a fundraiser that was dedicated solely to the food bank. Upon hearing that summertime is one of the greatest times of need for the hungry, he decided to take action. “We hope to bring some light to an organization that usually doesn’t get much attention with the demographic we’re targeting,” says Kearney.

The hosts aim to build a relationship with The Lowcountry Food Bank and make Christmas in July an annual event.
