We love how this year’s spate of movie theater openings/renovations has inspired some friendly competition between local companies. Cinebarre, the oldest of the newest theaters, has really been stepping it up with free screenings and outdoor shows. Following the success of their free screening of the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, they’ve decided to make it a weekly event. Now, you can watch McDreamy, McSteamy, and the rest of the Seattle Grace gang for free on the big screen inside at 9 p.m. every week. Thursdays are half-price pizza night, too!

And mark your calendars for Oct. 15, the date for the midnight premiere of Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are. To celebrate the silver screen adaptation of the beloved children’s classic, Cinebarre will host a pajama party. Then on Oct. 17, the Mt. Pleasant theater is partnering with the Town of Mt. Pleasant to host a very special free screening of Ghostbusters under the Ravenel Bridge! Kids are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes.
