Clips Beer and Film Tour

When: Thu., Sept. 25 2014

We like to think we’re simple folk. We don’t need fancy events or settings to make us happy. In fact, some of our favorite activities are riding around town on a bike, staring up into the night sky, sipping on some suds, and watching movies. When New Belgium Brewing rolls into Charleston this Thursday for the Fifth Annual Clips, Beer, and Film Tour, we’ll get to celebrate all four. Make your way over to Marion Square for three hours of short films, all created by New Belgium imbibers. “New Belgium won’t reveal them all in advance,” says Jordan Freeman. “We do know they are nationally sourced and adventure/sustainability-themed.” A few of the titles include Burkina Faso, a profile of a non-profit bringing fresh water to Africa; Tiny Worlds, a take on what might happen if street trash came to life; and Wheelin’, about a man on a mission to preserve antique bicycles. Pair the clips with your choice of 18 varieties of beer on tap. You can try Lips of Faith beers — Yuzu Berliner Weisse, Gruit, Gratzer, Coconut Curry Hefeweizen, and Wild Dubbel — or go for a New Belgium classic such as Fat Tire, Ranger IPA, and Snapshot Wheat. If you can’t decide which brew is for you, take advantage of the 3-oz. sample option before ordering a 12-oz. pour. Attendees are welcome to roll out a blanket or bring their lawn chairs to sit on. Outside food is permitted, but outside alcohol isn’t. Pack a picnic or buy food from Roti Rolls, Lowcountry Creole, Hello … My Name is BBQ, or Mellow Mushroom. And dogs on a leash are A-OK. The Clips, Beer, and Film Tour travels to cities from coast to coast, and the proceeds from beer sales benefit local non-profits. The money collected from beer sales at this event will go to Charleston Moves, a non-profit that encourages bike and foot transportation in the Charleston area.
