When: Wed., May 30, 2:30 p.m. 2012
In the hot seat. The Conversations With series is arguably one of the best values you'll find at Spoleto. Some of the festival's most fascinating personalities — from Jack Hitt to Motoi Yamamoto — will sit down for an intimate one-on-one with regular host Martha Teichner. And, unlike the actual performances, these events won't cost you a cent.
And your host... Teichner is a veteran journalist — she's been a CBS correspondent since the '70s, covering everything from Princess Diana's death to 9/11. She has that rare ability to ask her subjects tough questions while making them feel completely at ease.
Get inside their heads. Besides writer Hitt (May 26) and artist Yamamoto (May 26), Teichner will speak with cellist Alisa Weilerstein (May 30), Mike Daisey (May 31), and Jake Shimabukuro (June 2). Between all of the events, we're guessing Daisey's will fill up the fastest, thanks to recent headlines about his fabrications relating to his This American Life story about Apple's Chinese factories. So be sure to show up early to get a seat to that one.
