When: Sat., April 1, 8 a.m. 2017
Nothing says spring in Charleston like the annual Cooper River Bridge Run — a 10K that traverses the, well, Cooper River Bridge. The race is now in its 40th year and as of last week over 36,000 runners had signed up. But let’s be real, the run is about a lot more than running. With bars, restaurants, and breweries all over town hosting after parties, specials, live music, and more, Saturday April 1 should be Charleston’s official day of running fun. No fooling. If you’re running this year you’ll get to enjoy the headlining act, Heather Hayes, who will sing the National Anthem at 8 a.m. and then perform a full set after the race in Marion Square. Heather is the daughter of Isaac Hayes, a legendary soul singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer.
