Cork calls itself a neighborhood bistro, and the description couldn’t be more apt. In a prime location in a restored storefront on Park Circle’s restaurant row, Cork serves substantial meals with a touch of upscale flair, like a house-smoked pork loin with local peach chutney and shrimp and grits “florentine,” which has tomato-cheddar grits enhanced with tender sautéed spinach. At lunch, there’s a slate of salads and sandwiches, including a po’ boy du jour loaded with a rotating variety of seafood and a daily tart, too, which might be made with pesto and heirloom tomatoes or spinach and feta. With its narrow brick storefront and high, wood-beamed ceilings, Cork has the feel of a downtown restaurant and the food to match. —Robert Moss DISH (Summer 2013)
