Dock Street Theatre | A Christmas Carol

Celebrate the warmth of the holidays with Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future in Charleston Stage's take on Dickens's immortal classic, A Christmas Carol. Christmas card sets, hundreds of colorful costumes, a live orchestra, and a professional cast will help ring in your holiday season. This production is filled with visual marvels and special effects, including flying spirits and a fun musical score.

Starts 28. Various times and dates, through Dec. 19. $28.75+. Dock Street Theatre, 135 Church St. Downtown. charlestonstage.com

Queen Street Playhouse | The 1940s Radio Hour

Featuring standard favorites like "Strike Up the Band" and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," The 1940's Radio Hour evokes a nostalgic and simpler era. Guests can enjoy delightful characters, including a distraught producer coping with a drunk lead singer, a delivery boy who wants a chance in front of the mike, and the "second banana" who dreams of singing a ballad. Watch final holiday broadcast of the Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade on the New York radio station WOV in December 1942.

Starts Dec. 7. Various times and dates, through Dec. 22. $15+ Queen Street Playhouse, 20 Queen St. Downtown. footlightplayers.net

Charleston Music Hall | Charleston Christmas Special

Producers Brad and Jennifer Moranz have created an entirely new holiday show for this year's Charleston Christmas Special, featuring musical performances and comedy sketches, all with a holiday theme, of course. Please note that Thurs. Dec. 20 is 'kids' free night' where guests will receive one free child's ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket.

Starts Sat. Dec. 8. Various times and dates, through Dec. 22. $41/adults, $38/seniors and military, $35/groups of 15 or more, $22/students with ID, $19/kids 12 and under. Charleston Music Hall, 37 John St. Downtown. bradandjennifermoranz.com

N. Chs PAC | Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Everyone's favorite reindeer is back: After three years of successfully touring the U.S, Rudolph and the gang are back in Charleston this December for more family fun. Based on the 1964 stop-motion animated television classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, this musical is a new way to experience this beloved holiday tradition. Guests can expect projections, costumes, and characters on stage, set against a nostalgic backdrop. And did we mention the 12-foot tall Abominable Snow Monster? Yeah, pretty impressive.

Wed. Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. $29+. North Charleston Performing Arts Center, 5001 Coliseum Drive. North Charleston. northcharlestoncoliseumpac.com
