What is it? A block party featuring local Cuban and Latin jazz combos, produced by the Jazz Artists of Charleston. The six-member Havana Son, directed by Fernando Rivas, will headline, bringing rhythm to life with timbales, congas, bongos, bass, and piano. Garage Cuban Band will open the show with their own interpretation of traditional Cuban Folk music as it is heard on the streets of Havana.
Why see it? The block parties are usually relegated to the road behind the Custom House, but this year they've moved to Marion Square. Take advantage of the opportunity to dance the night away under the stars within walking distance from all of King Street's bars and restaurants. And did we mention the free admission?
Who should go? Latin lovers and those who just adore the merengue, claves, salsa, and mambo.
