Cupcake Camp Charleston

When: Sun., Nov. 10, 3-5 p.m. 2013

Cupcakes draw a crowd on their own. Add in the fact that you can eat them for free, and the Alley should be swarming with cupcake lovers on Sunday. Some more icing on that, uh, cupcake? Cupcake Camp also helps the South Carolina Youth Advocate Program. The deal is a pretty sweet one: Bake some cupcakes (or not), show up at the Alley, eat cupcakes. While you’re there, socialize with other Cupcake fans and perhaps donate some money to the SCYAP. And of course there’ll be a competition. Competing bakers who bring 48 cupcakes are permitted to enter in one category of the competition, bakers who bring 120 or more are permitted to enter two categories of the competition, and bakers who bring 240 or more are permitted to enter all three categories ( best holiday, best Southern, and best tasting). And here’s a pro-tip on eating the festive dessert to ensure the appropriate cake-to-icing ratio: Tear off the bottom half of the treat and place it on top of the icing. Hello, cupcake sandwich.
