When: Fri., Nov. 1 and Sat., Nov. 2 2013
Día de los Muertes, or Day of the Dead, is a celebration of the life of those that are, well, dead. This weekend there are three parties where you can pour one out for your homies. On Friday, Yo Burrito is throwing a bash with DJ Robert Rice and BLKMRKT spinning tunes (7 p.m.). If you’re in more of a North Chuck kind of mood, Bàsico has its own party with sugar skull face painting, a tarot card reader, a photo booth, a raffle with prizes including haunted tours from Bulldog Tours, and ghost chili-inspired specials from the restaurant. A DJ will start spinning on the Básico patio at 8 p.m. Donations collected at this event will benefit the Magnolia Cemetery Receiving Tomb. On Saturday, Mex 1 has you covered with a block party. Get your face painted at the free fiesta while jamming out to music from Old You and Malandro Sol. The party starts at 2 p.m.
