December Eve, Cookout for a Cure

When: Sun., Nov. 30, 4:30-7:30 p.m. 2014

Adding “eve” to a day just makes it seem more special, like it’s worth celebrating. Just ask brothers Randy and Shay MacDonalds, who created December Eve — Cookout for a Cure, an event to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Randy, who is a chef at Seabrook Island Resort, and Shay, chef at HöM Burger Boutique, will create a seven-course meal paired with Holy City brews. “Right now, the dinner is slated to be inside the brewery with propane heaters keeping everyone warm if needed,” says Shay. “A lot of the product is donated from Holy City, Seabrook Island, Crosby’s Seafood, Sysco, Halperns, Panera, and HöM.” The menu includes a grilled shrimp and scallop skewer, mussels, beer-soaked, cedar-roasted salmon, lamb tacos, ancho port tenderloin, beef shoulder tender, and grilled banana, butterscotch, pretzel bread pudding. “Sadly, there will not be any live music,” Shay explains. “My brother and I are trying to scrounge were we can and gather donated help and cut where we can, and keep it most cost effective in order to deliver as much fundraising money that we can to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It’s become not only a family affair but, friends, co-workers, and purveyors that are willing to help out.”
