Learn about the rationale for the early colonists' fears of disease, Native Americans, the Spanish, and wild animals, and how they protected themselves. Experience the smoke, sparks, and thunder of cannons and muskets as the Charles Towne Volunteer Militia “gives fire!” during black powder demonstrations. Hear stories about the Spanish threat and learn how the citizens fortified their vulnerable settlement against attack.
