Dog Day Afternoon

When: Sun., Sept. 8, 12-5 p.m. 2013

They’re covered in fur, drooling at the mouth, and sometimes smelly, but we still love them. Show some of that love to your dogs by giving them something they really deserve, like a day at the water park to cool off. Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark is devoting an entire day to man’s best friend where the park’s rides are shut down to humans and only open to dogs. Large dogs can use the wave pool, small dogs can use the Otter Bay pool, and for the second year in a row the lazy river will be open for all dogs. “We saw this happening all over the country and decided to do it. We average about 1,000 dogs each year, and we have never had any problems between the owners or their dogs,” says Charleston County Park’s festival and event manager Matt Rosebrock. When the pups are pooped out, there will be baby pools full of fresh water to drink. Don’t forget to bring vaccination records and a tennis ball.
