Veteran country singer and songwriter Don Williams is no stranger to the stage. A tall man with low-toned singing voice, he earned the nickname “the Gentle Giant” after starting his solo career in the late 1960s, releasing a string of melodic and smooth-tapping hits like “Good Ole Boys Like Me,” “I Believe in You,” “ Love is on a Roll,” “Amanda,” and “Tulsa Time.” During the 1970s, as his ballads and country tunes crossed over into pop mainstream, Williams established himself as one of the more successful country artists of his generation. The Country Music Association named him Male Vocalist of the Year in 1978. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010, which Williams has called “the biggest honor of my life.” Local country/rock songwriter Eddie Bush opens the PAC show at 7:30 p.m.
