If you’re anything like us, after a few drinks you find anything funny. It’s like alcohol turns us back into that awkward middle-school kid who will laugh at anything, even the word pickle. But at Drink ’Til It’s Funny Stand-Up Comedy Open Mic, the jokes will be a little bit more sophisticated than the ones our class clown dished out. The fun thing about this event, besides the $2 drink specials for PBR Tall Boys, is that anyone can get on stage and show their comedy chops. Potential comics can sign up at 8:30 p.m. and will randomly be pulled on stage throughout the night. Beginners will get three minutes to make people laugh, but those who have been at the comic game for a while will get five minutes. “It’s like karaoke, except with no music and way more embarrassment,” host Neil Bansil says. “It’s a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously. We just want to give people something fun to do on a Monday night while not breaking the bank.” Theatre 99 company member Andy Rider will close the show as the feature comic.
