Paddlesports and the Lowcountry are perfect complements. Whether you’re stand-up paddleboarding on Folly or kayaking through inlets, you can always find an outdoor activity to do that involves a paddle. But if that’s not your style, Sarah Reynolds from the Charleston County Park and Rec Commission promises the festival will have something for everyone, even for those who are more inclined to stay indoors. With concerts, kids’ activities, food, and drinks, you’ll find something to do — and you’ll never have to step foot in the water if you don’t want to. Food offerings will include local vendors Hubee D’s, Charleston Festival Foods, and Jim ‘N Nick’s. Sol Driven Train will play Friday night, and Flatt City provides the jams for the Saturday kayaking social. But the fest is still all about the outdoor water sports. “At this event people are able try out kayaking, SUP, climbing, or any of the other activities to see if they enjoy them before they invest in equipment or training,” says Reynolds. Watersport classes will be held throughout the weekend, so everyone from the novice to the Olympian can learn something new. There’s even paddle boarding excursions, a disc golf tournament, and a canoe race.
