Easter Eggstravaganza

When: Sat., March 30, 10:30 a.m. 2013

Unlike most hunts, where participants search for those brightly colored plastic eggs filled with candy, Middleton Place’s Easter celebration will be colonial-style, with children hunting plain hardboiled eggs. Hand-painted ceramic eggs will also be hidden, and the kids who find them will win a special prize. After all the egg hunting is over, children can head to the stableyard for egg-dyeing and fun crafts, like making sheep out of Easter eggs. Later in the day, there will be an egg toss and egg roll, as well as a children’s storytime with The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Kids can also get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, who will be in the garden at 11:30 a.m. “We have lots of programs about history for the adults, and it’s nice to get the younger generations involved,” says Warren Cobb, marketing director for Middleton Place. The Easter activities end at 2 p.m., but there’s no need to hurry off — you can still spend the rest of the afternoon wandering the gardens, which should be blooming beautifully this time of year.
